Soft Montélimar French Nougat

This delicacy was originally a Roman cake made with honey and nuts. The nougat in its current form appeared in the 17th century in Montélimar. This is the authentic internationally renowned nougat made from toasted almonds and honey and ideal as a small or large gift just like they used to give to the Kings of France.

Lovely Nougat but ........

We love this nougat but the last two bags we bought were underweight, they looked underweight on arrival so I opened one and weighed the sweets minus bag of course and found it weighed 185g. the second bag weighed 183g., not much I know, but annoying nevertheless, especially as it is not cheap.

Bad batch?

Maybe it was a bad batch, but despite being well in date, the whole pack tasted of rancid nuts. They were still edible but the treat was ruined. Never had that problem with the Reflets nougat bar. Also, these little sweets tasted much sweeter than the bar version, not sure why. And to boot, they're all individually wrapped so more useless packaging going to landfill...

Can't wait for the next delivery. I thought that the kids would turn their noses up at something 'different'.....they love it too.
