Brioche Loaf from Vendée Hand-plaited Pure Butter
Since the Middle Ages families from the Vendee region who live in the country have been making the “Gache” brioche loaf with breadcrumbs in the form of bread for Easter. In the 19th century the job of the baker became more general in rural France. These artisans changed the recipe and presentation of the brioche by plaiting it.
This lighter plaited brioche then became the cake for all celebrations. 20kg and 30kg brioches are still made to celebrate the traditional “Brioche Dance” to celebrate weddings in the Vendee region.

seriously good brioche
Not too sweet, not too soft, not too buttery, delicious hint of rum - just WOW!

Very good brioche
mmmm! yum. Really good brioche, moist-ish, not too doughy, slightly sweet. Bought it while on offer and now I fear, because it's a bit expensive, it may become a much more regular feature in my shopping. Other reviewer is right to point out there's rum in it, I can taste it just a little, but my children tastes like so they haven't noticed it. They've been having it for breakfast with nutella slathered on - sacrilege in my view -I like it just the way it is, on the side of a milky coffee. Good value as it doesn't dry out too fast. Only downside is that it's so big, it's not that portable, so I'll still have to buy the far inferior brioche rolls for kiddie snacks out and about. But I don't have to eat those.
