Very oily - what's happened?

Being a fan of the standard Sacla pesto sauce, I thought I would try this. Both jars purchased were incredibly oily - would not purchase again.

Great cupboard standby

I love this. It's never going to be as good as the one you make yourself when fresh basil is around but it's an excellent storecupboard standby. I used to add more parmesan to it but now I've decided that it's pretty well balanced and use it regularly on pasta and in soup

Used to be good but much more oily than the non-organic equivalent. Will not be buying again.

the pesto the Italians use

I bought this after reading a quote from a basil farmer that this is the pesto they use at home. It's definitely up there in the great supermarket pestos of all time. Personally I think it's a bit over salted, and I think someone should tell sacla. If I want salt in my pesto I can always add some. Please Sacla, put less salt in! There is a bit of roughage from the basil leaves as well, which is what the other reviewer meant by 'hairy' and which could probably be dealt with. But overall it's a great pesto - my second favourite after the fresh stuff that you buy in the deli in Camogli near the train station. And my son loves it so it's a store cupboard staple for us.
