Storage
Keep refrigerated. Once opened, use within 24 hours.
Suitable for freezing on day of purchase. Use within 1 month.
Prepare & Use
Oven Cook:
- Remove packaging.
- Place chicken in a roasting tin, cover loosely with foil.
- Place in a preheated oven 190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5.
- Cook for 45 minutes per kilo plus 20 minutes, basting occasionally.
- Remove foil for the last 30 minutes to allow browning.
- To check that the chicken is cooked, insert a skewer into the thickest part of the thigh, if the juices run clear, the chicken is cooked, if they are pink return the chicken to the oven for a further 25 minutes and re-test.

Chicken as it ought to be
I bought this mainly on the basis that it was free-range, properly reared and a slow growing breed - and all these features surely contributed to its wonderful flavour and succulence. It was excellent & I'll certainly be buying again.

Great chicken
Nice flavour, lovely and tender, and weight was about what I expected. Definitely worth paying the extra, as with the rest of the Black Farmer products I've tried

The most chickeny chicken I have had in ages
I am surprised by the negative review as I have had this a number of times and it is consistently good. I just cook it with half a lemon and some garlic inside, salt and pepper on the skin, and it comes out crispy on the outside, and falling off the bone. Worth the premium

Tough as old boots
The worst chicken I have ever bought - rubbery and tough - glad I did not serve to guests.

Tough and tasteless
Disappointing as I love Black Farmer sausages. Over-developed legs and under-developed breast, no discernible flavour.
