Storage
Once opened keep refrigerated and use within 24 hours.
If freezing, freeze on day of purchase & consume within 1 month.
Defrost thoroughly & use within 24 hours. Once thawed do not re-freeze.
Prepare & Use
- Remove all packaging
- Wash chicken under cold running water
- Place chicken in roasting tin, cover loosely with foil
- Place in pre-heated oven 190ºc / gas mark 5
- Cook for 45 minutes per kilo plus 20 minutes basting occasionally
- Remove foil for the last 30 minutes to allow browning
- To check that the chicken is cooked, insert a skewer into the thickest part of the thigh, if the juices run clear the chicken is cooked, if they are pink return the chicken to the oven for a further 25 minutes and re-test

Loved it!
It was succulent, sweet, just perfect in the oven with potatoes, onions, olive oil and a touch of lemon. Nothing to fault it.

Poor Chicken
Organic chickens tend to be less fatty, but this is just tough and scrawny. It's not a tasty chicken, and I had slow cooked it with lots of fat and liquids added, just no good I'm afraid. Too expensive for such a poor chicken. A lot of it was inedible. I'm not going to buy anything else from this brand.

Very disappointing
As per the last couple of reviewers, I found this to very dry. Despite cooking in a casserole with vegetables and stock etc, it was really hard work and had an almost gamey flavour. Fortunately it was in a flash sale, so I didn't pay full price, but discounted or not I won't buy again!

Quality deteriorated
Completely agree with the last reviewer. Have bought this chicken several times and whilst its annoying that the weight is so variable so you can end up with a teeny chicken to feed a family, it's always been good quality. However this time I cooked it as usual with lots of butter and wine and it was virtually in edible. In fact most of it did end up in the bin. Very dry, no juices and stringy. Yuck. Won't be risking it again. Very expensive too. Will stick to the local butchers in future. PS Tried to give this only one star but the web page wouldn't let me!

Hardly any meat, waste of money
Felt compelled to review this as was so disappointed. Not only did it NOT take the claimed 90 minutes to cook - closer to 2 hours - but once finally cooked, there was barely any meat. What meat there was was tasty but for this price really not worth it. Very disappointed.
