Product Description

Waitrose Tilapia Fillets

Tilapia is farmed around the world. Ours comes from the crystal clear waters of Lake Kariba. The farm which was built 10 years ago has given work to several hundred locals who enjoy the benefits of free eductaion, healthcare and housing. The flesh is creamy pink, with a delicate mild taste that goes well with sauces. Great for frying or grilling.

Sustainable, cheap and tasty

Very happy with this, although sometimes the fillet sizes vary rather a lot. Ocado should put in an extra fillet to make up for low weight... The fish is light and fresh tasting and super easy to cook. Yum!

Lovely & Lean

We love Tilapia because it is sustainable and tastier than most freshwater fish. Since it is a fairly plain tasting white fish it can be accompanied by creamy / spicy sauces. My last purchase from Ocado was somewhat disappointing since the fillets were very small and not worth the price.

Excellent

Tried these last night with a Parmesan crust as recommended by a previous reviewer, they were top notch.

Flavourome fish.

I made a mildish Thai curry with this fish - which I had not had before - and it was delicious. Really good texture, no bones, and soft and flavoursome. Have ordered some more.

While we have taken care in preparing this summary and, to the best of our knowledge, believe it is accurate you should note that the summary product information (in particular the "Other Information" section) may change between the time you place your order on the website and the time your order is delivered (in this regard we rely on our suppliers to tell us of any changes in a timely manner so we can update our website). For example, as all meat and fish products are naturally farmed, there may be occasions when due to weather conditions we may need to source from alternative approved sources (and hence the product origin may change). Therefore, if you do require the most up-to-date product information following delivery of your order, please ensure you check the website for details.

You also need to be aware that for those service counter goods where we offer additional preparation services (ie removal of the head and tail of a fish or for a rack of lamb to be cut into cutlets), the price will be calculated based on the weight of the whole fish before the head and tail have been removed and the lamb rack before it has been cut into cutlets, should you request this service. The receipt and product label you receive will also show the actual weight of the whole fish and/or lamb rack (before the head and tail of the fish has been removed and the lamb rack has been cut into cutlets).
