Product Description

Our Classic Blend
In 1831 we created Earl Grey tea in our shop on the Strand on the request of the Prime Minister. He loved it so much he gave his name to it. Before long it had taken London by storm and it is still a firm favourite amongst people who like things with a twist, who travel off the beaten track and don't always play by the rules.

What does it taste like?
Our classic Earl Grey. A delicate tea with a delicious twist of citrusy bergamot.

What makes this tea different?
We carefully select a tea that is light, delicate and refreshing. It blends perfectly with the unique citrusy bergamot.
Tea, Twinings & Inspiration
For us, tea is more than just a drink. It's a way to calm down, to wake up, to spark an idea, to share a story.

Our own story started in 1706. That's when Thomas Twining first set up shop on London's Strand.
In the age of coffee shops, he was the man who loved tea and worked hard to bring it to the people.

More than 300 years later, the passion's still there. Each tea - and we have more than 115 - is a special blend. They're tasted and tasted by our experts until it's just right. And we still sell tea from Thomas's little shop, so pop in for a visit. We'd love to see you there.

If you like to drink yours without milk, why not try new Lemon Grey? It's Earl Grey with a zesty splash of lemon. Discover something new with Twinings.

Still with the Earl's personal stamp of approval

Hugely disappointing

I used to love both Earl Grey and Lady Grey tea by Twinings but they ruined it when they changed their recipe last year. The body of the tea is tasteless and the new non natural flavourings give a very fake bergamot/lemon flavour on top. Many of my friends agree. We have changed to Taylors which has a much more traditional taste.

nice but tea bags always rip!

I love this earl grey but have massive problems with the packaging, for some reason the last few boxes I have bought have been a nightmare. Both tea bags always rip open when I try to separate them, meaning there is loose tea everywhere! Not sure why they can't be attached by a tiny bit of bag. As for taste, it's lovely and fragrant, not too perfume-like as other brands of earl grey can be. Twinings will always be my go-to brand of tea and can't say I agree with the new lemon taste?

Changed the recipe

Have always loved Twinings Earl Grey, but earlier this year they changed the recipe to include lemon, which really ruins it. If I wanted lemon in my earl grey I could add it!! For anyone else feeling the same way - their organic earl grey hasn't suffered the same fate.

Nice, but not as good as before

Its a real shame Twinings switched from natural bergamot to flavouring. Still tastes quite nice, but just recently purchased Williamson Earl Grey and this is in a different class. The quality is much much higher, and worth the extra money. Its also a much stronger tea bag, so you easily get two good cups of tea from one bag, so the higher price isnt such a big deal. Go on, try the williamson!
