Offer - Zip Natural Hardwood Briquettes for BBQ's 4kg
Product Description
Testing confirms that our Zip Briquettes reach optimum cooking temperature quicker and stay hotter for longer. This means a shorter wait to start barbecuing, high enough temperature to ensure your food is thoroughly cooked and plenty of time to cook large amounts of food!
Zip Briquettes impart a delicate hardwood flavour into all of your barbecued foods.
Superior to traditional briquettes, Zip is 100% natural and does not contain any mineral coal, chemicals, or other fillers. This results in a more consistent burn without excessive smoke or objectionable fumes or smells - ensuring that the natural flavour of your food is delicately enhanced.
Zip Briquettes leave less ash than other leading brands - so it's easier to clean up!

Prepare & Use
DIRECTIONS:
(If using starter fluid, refer to the manufacturer's instructions).
1. Evenly distribute your firelighters amongst your briquettes. For best results, Zip recommends using 2-3 Zip individually wrapped firelighters.
2. Light the firelighter wrappers. Always keep the barbecue uncovered until ready to cook.
3. Allow 20-30 minutes for the briquettes to ash and glow before cooking. Try spreading them out evenly in a single layer if you want a gentler cooking result.
ABOUT SAFETY:
-Do not use indoors
-Never use petrol to light briquettes
-Do not add lighter fluid directly to burning or hot charcoal.
-Never leave a barbecue unattended.
-After cooking, make sure ashes are completely coal before discarding

Great Product
As a South African now living in the UK and obviously very partial to BBQ's or a Braai as we like to call them, I have really battled to find a decent charcoal product. I discovered this product at Waitrose about a year ago and have been using it ever since as it gives the meat a really nice natural charcoal grilled flavour, without the harsh aftertaste present in most less natural briquette products on the market.

Easy to BBQ
I found this product last year in Tesco and have come back for more now that it's BBQ time again. The coals are a good size and stayed hot enough to cook BBQ food for 10 family and friends. I had some lovely compliments about how good the food tasted and how nice the flavour of the meat was. I'm not expert at lighting BBQs but I can light these coals with a few zip firelighters and then we are away. I have recommended these briquettes to my sister who also loves them too.

Very disappointing
I'm afraid I can't agree with any of the positive comments of the previous reviewer. Very quick to burn to dust - probably the worst briquettes I have ever used. I had to add coals simply to cook a meal for four. For the extra £1 and the 1kg lost, they're simply not worth it. I BBQ regularly throughout the year, come rain or shine, but I won't be buying these again.

OK for small jobs
I usually use Heat Beads but found them a tad smoky at light-up so I thought Id try the Zip coals. They lit cleanly but died at around one hour. Heat Beads manage 2 and a half hours at full heat and keep going for another 30 minutes. Verdict ? OK for burgers and the like, barely sufficient for a decent sized chicken and useless for ribs, legs of lamb, beef joints or shoulders of pork. Amateur stuff !!
