French Toast

This makes a hot, satisfying breakfast or brunch.

Good with a few summer berries or a spoonful of yogurt.

Instructions

    In a shallow dish, beat together the eggs, milk, cream, vanilla extract, and sugar until combined. Dip the bread slices into the mixture, so they are covered.

    Melt a little of the butter in a large frying pan and fry the bread slices, in batches, for 2 minutes on each side, or until golden, adding more butter for each batch. Keep the cooked slices warm while you cook the other batches.


  3. 3

    Cut the toasts in half diagonally, and arrange 4 pieces on each serving plate. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve.

  • 300ml single cream
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp caster sugar
  • 8 white bread, slices
  • 75g butter
  • 20ml maple syrup, to serve
