Waldorf Salad

A classic dish named after the prestigious Waldorf–Astoria hotel in New York.

Instructions

    Place the diced apples into a mixing bowl and pour the lemon juice on top. Coat the apple well, as this will prevent discolouring.

    Add the celery, mayonnaise, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Mix well, then cover and chill.


  3. 3

    Remove the salad from the refrigerator, stir in the walnuts, sprinkle with the chives, and serve.


Ingredients

  • 500g red-skinned apples, cored and diced
  • ½ lemon, juice
  • 4 celery sticks, thickly sliced crossways
  • 150ml mayonnaise,
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper, freshly ground
  • 85g walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 5g chives, snipped , to garnish
