Why organic?

Organic food is supposed to be better for us – but why? According to the most up-to-date scientific analysis, organic food can have more antioxidant compounds than regular food. It also has lower levels of pesticides and toxic metals.

Travel improves the mind, not fruit and veg.

We do go on a bit about on getting you the freshest, tastiest seasonal fruit and vegetables that nature can offer. But just as important is where we get it all from. Wherever possible, our produce is sourced directly from some of the best UK organic growers, and we always try to buy locally. We also make it a rule never to buy airfreighted produce.

Taste before beauty.

It’s true of people and it’s just as true of fruit and veg: real beauty is on the inside. We select them on the basis of flavour, not how things look. You may find the odd strangely-shaped vegetable or fruit in our boxes, but the minute you put it into your mouth, you’ll understand why we put it in the box.

Eat with the seasons.

We live in a temperate climate. In other words, we’re lucky enough to have seasons. It makes sense to eat fruit and vegetables when they are in season; not when they’ve been forced in power-hungry greenhouses. Fresh strawberries in June, sprouts in December – all fruit and veg has a time when it’s at its seasonal best.
