Daffy about daffs

Daffodils bloom after months of dormancy, when rising soil temperatures and increased daylight trigger the bulb’s internal clock. They then convert stored starches into energy and push up their shoots. And all this happens, just as we need a dose of colour most.

Our daffodils are sourced from trusted growers in regions where the climate is perfect for slow, steady growth. Sustainable techniques, like cover cropping, help protect the soil and manage water flow.
Daffodils release a sap that can shorten the life of other flowers, so they are best displayed in a vase on their own. If you want to mix them, first trim the stems and leave them in a separate jar of water for 12 hours to let the sap drain.
Daffodils are best picked at the gooseneck
stage (bent like a hook with the bud closed) for
the longest life. Their Latin name, Narcissus, comes from the
Greek myth of the hunter who fell in love with his
own reflection.
