The California Gold Rush was a period of courage, bravado and curiosity. I craft Red Blend with these characteristics in mind. The grapes used to blend this bold wine are carefully selected from the golden hills and valleys of California. It is finished in Bourbon barrels, which complements this rich wine with notes of charred vanilla and dried herbs.

Years ago, when I was just starting out as a winemaker, it was almost unheard of to get French oak wine barrels and American oak barrels, were for whisky, not wine. But we still needed barrels to age our wine, so we purchased new and used Bourbon barrels. Today American and French oak wine barrels are commonplace, so the inspiration for 1000 Stories is a nod to the way things were.' - Winemaker Bob Blue

Individual lots for this intriguing wine started with the dry-farmed, head-trained Zinfandel vines from Mendocino County, Lodi and Paso Robles Vineyards.

Our Red Blend is a fruit-forward blend of Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir. Each varietal in this powerful, lush red wine plays a part in the flavour profile: Merlot lends ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit, Zinfandel brings the spice, the wine's inky purple hue and pleasing minerality are compliments of Pinot Noir. The creation of this well-structured blend culminates in bourbon-barrel aging, giving the wine a finish of charred vanilla and dried herbs
