Natoora Sicilian Datterini Tomatoes

What is a Datterini Tomato?

Sicilian Datterini Tomatoes tomatoes have a concentrated sweetness, because they are sun-ripened and minimally watered. Their vines dry out from the Sicilian heat, meaning the fruit detaches easily, a sign of quality. Far too many Sicilian tomatoes are aggressively grown, using hydroponics and hormones, due to high market demand. But patience is the key to quality, so at Natoora we source only bee-pollinated tomatoes grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil, and our Datterini Tomatoes only sourced from two growers, Francesco and Bartolomeo.

How to serve Sicilian Datterini Tomatoes

When roasted, Datterinis are intensely sweet and tart, meaning they pair well with smooth and creamy ricotta, or burrata. The umami flavour they release when they’re baked makes them a joyous filling for a summer savoury tart. Their small size and sweetness make them a nice addition to children’s lunchboxes as a healthy snack.

What is Natoora?

Natoora sells flavour-first produce sourced through direct and transparent relationships with our growers. Not only does this create a unique supply chain; but through face-to-face conversations with our growers and tasting their produce at origin, we always know what’s in season, ensuring that our produce is at its freshest and most flavourful when it reaches you. Natoora also works with deli, dairy and dry goods producers who share our commitment to provenance, and we make our own range of soups, dips, juices and wholegrain sourdough breads.

Our packaging is plastic-free and home compostable. Dispose of the blue punnet in your normal recycling and the clear film in your food waste bin.
