Brand details

Alma by Natoora Rye Loaf

A deeply flavoursome wholemeal rye with rich natural sweetness. Rye generally has a noticeably tighter crumb and denser profile compared to other breads, but as ours uses 18% wheat flour, it is a little lighter in flavour and texture.

Recipes using Rye Bread

Rye bread is famously served in a Scandinavian style, with pickled fish, onions and lots of dill. For something completely different, we love slicing thick wedges of ALMA by Natoora's rye loaf to bake into a rich vanilla-infused custard for an indulgent bread and butter butter. Bake demerara sugar on top for a deeply caramelised crunch. Serve with Natoora stone fruits, like sweet Amarillo peaches.

What is Alma?

Alma is the Bermondsey-based mill and bakery on a mission to restore the value of whole grain wheat. Our small team of bakers stone-mill diverse grain varieties in-house, making fresh flour that's full of flavour, character and depth. Every ingredient in our loaves is chosen with the same care, for its quality, craftsmanship and flavour.

What is Natoora?

Natoora was founded in 2004 in a bid to bring flavour, seasonality and transparency back to the way we source and eat food. Today, we work closely with responsible growers to find fruit and veg varieties chosen for flavour, many of which never make it into the mainstream food system. From seed selection to traditional growing methods, we champion the people and practices behind good produce, connecting growers with chefs and home cooks all around the world.
