History
Artadi dates back to 1981 when its current owner, Juan Carlos López de Lacalle, together with his family and thirteen local growers founded Artadi in the heart of Alava. Juan Carlos represents the 4th generation of winemakers, now joined by his son and 5th generation, Carlos. Today, Artadi own 65 hectares of vineyard in their original site of Álava, in Laguardia, planted in soils with wide geological diversity.

The soil is clay and limestone, resulting in rich wines, a cooler climate, helps maintain the acidity levels. Artadi have the maximum respect for the environment as they are Organic and do not use pest or herbicides.

Vinification details
The grapes are hand picked in to 10 kg crates, the sorting of bunches and berries is carried out after picking.Vinification takes place in stainless-steel open top vats with cold maceration for 24-48 hours. Fermentation takes 10-12 days with often cap management and a brief pumping over.In French oak for 12 months.
