Avallen is a fabulous apple brandy

Love this apple brandy not just because it's super eco-friendly but because its fresh, appley, custardy profile makes it superb for mixing in cocktails and long drinks. My fav for winter is simply missing it with ginger beer but it's also great in warm mulled apple juice for Xmas.

For cooking

I wouldnt drink this but agree with HMJ that it totally brings to life any Normandy recipe. You can really taste the apple when its in a sauce with the alcohol cooked off a bit.

rough

Got this in place of the usual french calvados I would buy as this is available on Ocado. Never again - rough as hell.

Calvados - what's not to like?

A good quality Calvados with a hint of apple and a fiery cognac finish, however I can't help thing that we do this a touch better than the French - see Somerset Cider Brandy - which keeps more of the flavour.
