Making Italy's best pasta for over 140 years, Barilla's Collezione Trofie Liguri owes its name to the word "strofissià", which in the Genoese dialect means to rub, referring way the pasta is made by hand. Popular in Liguria in the Genoa region of Italy, Trofie is tapered and intertwined in shape, and unique in texture. It pairs best with vegetable sauces, particularly Pesto alla Genovese, however, it also works with cheese-based and tomato-based sauces, too. Part of our Collezione range for the perfect creative touch, elevate your kitchen skills with Barilla's Collezione Trofie Liguri, which cooks in just 10 minutes. Simply bring water to a boil in a large pot then add the Trofie Liguri along with a generous pinch of sea salt to enhance the pasta's flavour. For authentic "al dente" pasta, boil uncovered, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. For pasta that's more tender, boil for an additional minute. Drain well and serve immediately with your favourite Barilla sauce. With a variety of shapes in our line of gourmet pasta, you're sure to cook quality "al dente" pasta every time. From our short pasta like Collezione Castellane or Orecchiette to long pasta such as Collezione Tagliatelle or Spaghetti Rigati, you're guaranteed to always get a perfect "al dente" bite. At Barilla, we are passionate about pasta and have been sharing our passion with the world since 1877. We believe that cooking for someone can be a true sign of love, told in a few minutes by preparing a beautiful dish of pasta for the people you care about most. At Barilla, we strive to make pasta and sauce products that are good for you and good for the planet. Barilla. A sign of love.

Terrific trofie
Barilla is the best. Trofie can be harder to find in the uk and is one of my favourites to have with basil pesto and some chopped al dente fine green beans, lightly roasted garlic cherry tomatoes and some Parmesan sprinkled on top. I love the barilla pesto also, but it does contain seed oil which I try to avoid. The de cecco pesto just has EV olive oil and is better value. I sometimes pad it out by blending with some garlic, chopped (saved/old) broccoli stem, cavolo Nero and chilli flakes/herbs. YUM
favourite pasta
Taste pasta great texture
new family treat
We tend to use brown pasta most of the time, but the trofie really is yummy and we use it to make our quick midweek family staple, prawn pasta. Delicious.
disappointed with packaging
The pasta is fine, its dried Trofie, bo better or worse than any other brand. But I have switched to Barilla because of their use of cardboard rather than plastic packaging. So I was disappointed that, unlike the rest of the Barilla range, their Trofie still has single use plastic.
Yummy
Absolutely lovely - bought this box some months ago after seeing it on tv cookery slot - its remained unopened until this week as I just continued to return to the usual pasta - it is delicious - holds its shape well and holds sauce beautifully - another box in the trolley now :)
firm and dense
Delicious pasta. Made a Turkish pasta dish and I was dubious at first because the pasta is quite thin but it does a fantastic job of holding its shape and absorbing the sauce in between the folds. This is our new family favourite. You can grate some halloumi ontop once its cooked.
