Bart Vanilla Pod

The vanilla orchid originates from Mexico and was used by the Aztecs. Its sweet, aromatic flavour tastes fantastic in custards and creams, or try a rich vanilla tart with poached apricots.

Using a pointed knife, cut down the middle of the pod and then scrape out the seeds with the back of a knife. Add the cream, custard, or a cake mix. Once all the seeds are scraped, submerge the pod into a container of sugar for use in other baking treats.
