Blanco Nino Ancient Grain Blue Corn Tortilla Chips 170g
Product information
Blue corn and amaranth are ancient grains that have been held with reverence as staples of the Aztec diet for thousands of years. In homage to the communities and traditions that inspired our Tortilleria, we married together these grains creating a unique, subtly sweet and earthy flavour. We source amaranth from heritage farmers in Milpa Alta, meaning 'high corn field', which overlooks the ancient Aztec capital city of Tenochtitlan, known today as Mexico city.

Brand
We select the very best whole non-GMO corn, which we cook then steep overnight, before grinding into a dough called masa using our hand-carved, Mexican volcanic stones. An ancient process called Nixtamalisation. While still hot, this masa is shaped and baked into tortillas. We then leave the tortillas to rest overnight, before cutting and lightly frying them to become the most delicious, authentic tortilla chips.
It takes three days from start to finish, but we think it's worth the wait.

Tasty
Good crunch, not too salty, perfect for dips and look good mixed with straightforward tortillas
great tortillas chips
Perfect with salsa and guacamole. Nice texture and taste. Much prefer them to the overly flavoured varieties.
Incredibly Moreish
Got hooked when they were on sale, became a fixture when friends came over. Although pricey, so buy them less often.
I forgot what corn chips should taste like!
As I'm probably one of the few who salts my cooking like a restaurant, I found it undersalted. But the taste! This is very corny and flavourful and makes up for the lack of salt! Don't waste it with ready made salsa and guac.
Bland
Might be great with food or salsa but little flavour on their own. Other brands tastier.
great vehicle
these are great in the same way that plain white rice is great with Asian food. it lets the other ingredients shine while being reliable, crunchy and not overpowering. perfect flavour and texture for chilli, pulled pork or nachos
