Product Information
This Madeira wine has been crafted from the volcanic, sub-tropical Portuguese island of Madeira, located some 400 miles off the Northwest African coast. The Blandy's are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their wine company, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
This wine is part of a wine range we called "The Dukes' Collection", honouring the Dukes of England. This is the richest style of Madeira, full bodied, soft textured and is a superb accompaniment to dessert dishes, especially fruitcakes, chocolate puddings and soft cheese, but also a splendid after-dinner drink.
Please drink responsibly: The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend adults do not regularly drink more than 14 units per week

Regional information
Madeira is a Portuguese island located off the African coast. It has a long heritage of wine production and is famous for its unique wine style. The island is an extinct volcano and as a result has some of the steepest vineyards in the world. The vines are heavily influenced by the sea, which are visible from the vineyards and its volcanic soils give the wines an incredible minerality.

Vinification details
Madeira is unique in that the wines are softly heated in a process known as 'estufagem'. This entails softly heating the wines over a 3 month period to create the caramel and dried fruit flavour for which Madeira is famed. Following 'estufagem' the wines are then matured in oak for an average of 3 years to add complexity and a velvety texture.
