mirin
good for Chinese dishes
Dont buy! Its not a real thing!
In my opinion, I'd give it No Stars at all. I cooked a Japanese-style omelette(Tamagoyaki) with this. Annoyingly this product isn't the real thing and ruined my omelette so had to throw it away. I used another brand to cook the same recipe several times and turned out delicious. But this blue dragon mirin was salty and had a strange vinegary aftertaste unlike real mirin gives a subtle sweetness to the dish. It should not be called mirin whatsoever!!
Sour!
I had to add less than i would usually and then still add a load of honey to try and balance out the flavour. Other brands are much nicer
not the real thing but will do
So no it isnt really mirin. Does it work in dishes, yes. Certainly better than not having mirin.
Not a proper Mirin
It's too sour to be a mirin - almost ruined my dish! Saitaku one is better than this but I hope Ocado stocks a proper Japanese hon mirin.
sweet, bright flavour
nice sweet flavour that worked well in cooking sauces, soup, and marinades
