The original Islay Single Malt, crafted with intent since 1779 to create an exceptionally expressive whisky.

Bowmore 12 Year Old is the benchmark of our expressive house style, with dramatic notes of honeyed lemon and driftwood embers that transport you to the shores of Loch Indaal. It is matured for 12 years in hand selected American oak ex-Bourbon barrels and European oak Oloroso sherry butts and puncheons, before being carefully married together.

Care is taken to add distinct layers of flavour at every stage: every action is judged and considered, from the hand-turned malt, dried in peat-fired kilns, to our longer fermentation times and hand-selected casks.

Aroma
Subtle sweetness of fresh lemon juice and heather-tinged honey balanced beautifully by Bowmore's trademark soft, earthy smokiness.

For over 240 years, Bowmore distillery has stood on the shores of Lochindaal. Here facing the wild Atlantic Ocean, is home to the legendary No.1 Vaults and the mysterious alchemy within. We are more than an Islay distillery. We are the first licensed distillery here.
From the careful and intentional ethos at the heart of the Bowmore distillery, every step and stage of the process is considered. We put flavour first. Taking traditional techniques and uniting them with creative vision we can ensure that each component plays its part. From floor maltings and peat smoke drying, to the long fermentation and slow distillation.
