Mild and delicate in flavour, Cornish hake has soft, tender flesh that firms up beautifully during cooking. Our hake is carefully prepared for easy cooking and eating. Every care is taken to remove bones, although the occasional small bone may remain.


Caught by gill net off the coast of Cornwall, hake is one of the jewels of the Cornish catch and a delicious local alternative to cod. Each pack contains two skin-on hake portions. Quick to cook and delicious – pan-fry for 5–8 minutes and enjoy.

Keep refrigerated below 5oC. Once opened consume within 24 hours. Suitable for freezing. Freeze on day of purchase and use within one month. Do not refreeze once defrosted.

Place portions skin down in a hot pan with a little oil, season with salt and pepper. Cook until skin is crispy and then turn over and cook for a 3-4 minutes more until flesh is opaque and piping hot. Some small bones may remain.
