Catena Alta Chardonnay is sourced from select rows in two of the Catena family's Andean vineyards: Adrianna and Domingo. The blend of these historic rows, like the marriage of sounds that create a symphony, yields a highly aromatic and elegant wine that speaks for the earth and the vines that have been tended by the Catenas for four generations. The Catena Family, since 1902: one hundred years of defining Argentina wine.

A remarkable white wine, with flavours of pear, apricot and lemon. There are subtle hints of white flowers and warm, smoky notes on the finish.
History
State founded in 1902, the first vintage of this wine was 1991. Nicolás Catena was the first South American winemaker to ever be named ‘Decanter's Man of the Year'. This comes as no wonder when he pioneered high-altitude Malbec in the Argentine Andes.
Regional Information
Mendoza's wine region is over 350,000 acres (144,000 hectares) of planted vineyards, and produces nearly two-thirds of the country's wine. Argentina's most highly rated Malbec wines originate from Mendoza's high altitude wine regions of Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley.

Superb, very special chardonnay. Amazing value.

Delighted to find this superb wine on Ocado. The loveliest chardonnay I've ever had. First enjoyed it at a 2 star Michelin restaurant, as part of the chef's wine pairing - that's how good it is. I love it for the taste and fragrance, not snob factor! It's intensely buttery and tropical but not too rich or oaked. It's grown at crazy high altitude in the Andes, right at the limit of what's possible. Amazing value. The 2019 is still fantastic but unless you'll get through loads, I wouldn't stockpile it. I'm looking out for the 2020 or 2021. And the 'regular' Catena chardonnay is also great - beats French burgundy for twice the price all day long.
