History
The Cave de Saumur is famous for its wines but also for its unique underground galleries. These tunnels were originally quarried for the white sedimentary rock used to construct the region's beautiful pale chateaux and houses. These were occupied by the Germans during the second world war, and are now earning their keep storing wine.
