In true pioneering spirit, Chandon Argentina was founded in 1959 by Moët & Chandon to produce a sparkling wine that combined French winemaking expertise and the passion of Argentina. From the foothills of the Andes, the classic grape varietals of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have been skillfully blended using méthode traditionnalle, resulting in a lively wine with fine bubbles and delicate citrus aromas. Perfect as an aperitif and for special moments shared with friends.

History

CHANDON Argentina, founded 65 years ago in Mendoza, still boasts stunning mountain views. However, its pioneers might not recognize it today. Robert-Jean de Vogüé's search for ideal terroirs led him and Renaud Poirier to the high-altitude lands near Mendoza. They were captivated by the unique location and dramatic climate, with extreme temperature variations. CHANDON Argentina is located in Agrelo, near Luján de Cuyo, nestled in the Andean foothills at elevations of 1000m to 1700m above sea level.

Regional information

The finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes come from our El Yaima and Caicayén estates (Uco Valley) located between 1,000 and 1,200 meters. The Andes Mountains block the humid winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, turning Mendoza into a high-altitude desert with a continental climate. The terroirs' climate conditions and the wide diurnal temperature range allow the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining all their natural acidity

Tasting notes

Notes of citrus fruits, white peach and pineapple are balanced with subtle hints of bread and brioche.

Vinification details

Harvest takes place between February and March. The juice is kept separate according to its origin and inoculated with selected yeasts. Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to obtain the base wine. After the assemblage, the wine is placed into a stainless-steel tank to undergo secondary fermentation over a period of 6 to 8 months. Individual bottles are then riddled and disgorged. A small amount of dosage liqueur is added. After 3 months bottle age minimum the wine is ready.
