this is one of the lowest Glycemic index sugar/honey/syrup products/alternatives so excellent for me as I'm diabetic. it has a delicious caramelized flavour and being intensely sweet you dont need much. I use it as the sweetening ingredient when I make granola or my homemade caramelized oaties with chopped walnuts and mixed seeds - they are a cross between a hobnob and lotus biscuit with seeds for omega oils taste and texture and chopped walnuts again for healthy oils, flavour, texture and believe it or not, diabetic eye health. they are a delicious occasional treat.
I tried this new honey recently and it is delicious. I made a coconut and honey sponge cake for tea and mixed some honey into the fiding filling too. Very decadent indeed!
More like maple syrup
This has the colour and consistency of maple syrup. Its very sweet but doesnt taste like honey. I am a real honey fan and this just didnt compare. Had an ever so slight taste of vinegar about it.
A natural sweetener
This doesn't really taste like honey, other than being very sweet, but it does have a subtle and pleasant tang of its own. I am not too keen on honey anyway but thought this might be useful as a cooks ingredient for dishes that needed an extra touch of sweetness without adding any flavour of its own. I have found it works well like that and will probably buy again. Kept in the fridge, it squeezes from the bottle without any mess, which is another bonus.
Really nice even the kids agree
My daughter has got into the habit of having honey on toast! She loves this and hasnt noticed the difference at all. I have tasted it raw and it tastes delicious!
I try to avoid refined sugar in my diet but this is great for adding a little sweetness to foods e.g. atop porridge or to sweeten herbal teas
