JUST AWFUL THE WORST
ABSOLUTELY A WAIST OF MONEY , TASTELESS , YOU HAVE TO SPIT UP ALL HARD BITE EACH TIME , JUST AWFUL ANF TOTALLY TASTELESS
Awful, tough, not good value
for the price, I was expecting these to be a bit like the bottoms of the smaller artichokes. Instead they were from the large artichoke, very very tough, not tasty and extremely expensive for what it was. I would not recommend and I will not buy again.
The hearts are better...
than the bottoms of this brand.
Nothing like the real thing
Ive been looking for artichoke bottoms for years, but I cant find anything thats like the real joy of getting to the bottom of a fresh artichoke my favourite part by a long way. In France you can buy them in markets, freshly done for you, at a fraction of the price a whole artichoke costs here, even pre Brexit. Have never understood why they cost so much here. So, these tinned bottoms are just okay. Dried and sliced, theyre fine in a salad. But just dont expect the wonderful flavour of the real thing.
Good but nothing like Fresh Artichokes
We regularly use artichokes on pizza, pasta, or other dishes such as crab artichoke dip. Frozen Picard Artichoke Bottoms were our previous favourite, but since these are no longer stocked by Ocado, this is our next choice. Fresh Artichokes taste obviously much better. But, the can contains 5 bottoms so if you compare value to fresh artichokes this is quite good. Cleaning up fresh artichokes is not quick or easy, so this is also good in that sense. I think these are slightly salty / vinegary. But still work better than the artichokes marinated in sunflower oil and herbs (there are too many overwhelming flavours in those) One final note, one reviewer mentions "tough outer leaves". This product does not have any leaves. (as pictured) So that review probably belongs to a fresh artichoke and this is just a confusion.
Tasty but little tough
These are tasty but they could be a little tough. I cook them for a while to make sure they're not too tough.
