Cuvee Tradition Cahors Malbec 75cl

£11.99 per 75cl

Product information

This wine is sourced from the famous medieval sun drenched region of Cahors, famous for its inky, deep coloured wines made predominantly from Malbec grapes which have historically been grown throughout this stunningly scenic appellation located in the south west of France.

This is a structured, full bodied yet elegant red made using super-ripe Malbec grapes which have been enriched with a hint of oak. This wine is bursting with blackberry and blackcurrant fruit flavours and would make a perfect partner to all types of roasted meats including beef or lamb.

Tasting Notes
From the home of Malbec, this Cahors is deep, dark red in colour, with powerful aromas of sloes and forest fruits. It has a rich, yet smooth palate with flavours of blackcurrants, pepper and spices and a long finish. Perfect with roasted meats
The first vines were planted around 50BC. During the middle ages. Cahor was known as the 'Black wine' due to its deep colour. Thanks to the river lot, the wine of Cahor could be shipped to Bordeaux and on to the UK where is was a firm favourite until the 19th Century when phylloxera destroyed the vineyard. Following the replanting Cahors acquired its AOP quality status in 1971 and has been producing excellent wines ever since.
Regional Information
Vineyards are situated in south-west France, near Cahors overlooking the Lot River. The Cahors vineyard is at an equal distance from the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees.

Vinification Details
The grapes are harvested from 20yr old vines with clayey limestone soil. The grapes are then left for 10 days to macerate followed by desteming. The next step in the process is the alcoholic fermentation for 10 days in stainless steel tanks to allow the alcohol to form. To impart complexity the wine is then ages with oak for 2 months

dull Cahors

I was expecting a full bodied wine and this one is definitely not a typical Cahors. Wont buy again.
