Brand details

Between the rugged North Cornwall coast and its lush grass pastures, we've been perfecting cheese at Davidstow for over 70 years, with unique recipes thanks to the cultures and processes developed during this time.

They’re made by a team of expert cheesemakers and graders, many of whom have been with the creamery for most of their working lives, amassing a wealth of skill and knowledge over the years.

High quality milk from direct supply Cornish farms, together with a bespoke blend of starter cultures, combine to forge the beautiful flavour and texture of our award-winning cheddar.

Then, the final ingredient – time. This is never rushed at Davidstow. The cheese slowly matures and develops, taking all the months it needs to develop the richness and flavour Davidstow is famous for.

History

Davidstow is a real village in North Cornwall (located between Padstow and Bude), from which the creamery is proud to take their name.
They have been perfecting cheese here for over 70 years, since the creamery first sprung to life on a former WW2 RAF aerodrome.

To get the great Cornish milk that goes into all Davidstow cheese, requires three key things -

1. Excellent breeding
Having the right cows plays a huge part in achieving the perfect quality of milk, rich in butterfat and protein.

2. Excellent feeding
The herd needs a nutritious, balanced diet to produce consistently top quality milk for our Davidstow recipe.

3. Excellent farming
Respect for the land, the animals and the environment is key to ensuring a quality, sustainable milk supply.
