this is probably one of the best joints I have ever bought! I seared it and put it in the slow cooker on low for 12 hours. this may sound like a long time but it was overnight and the joint fell apart to make the most delicious meat and potato pie. it really needs to be cooked low and slow.
In japan they believe in respecting an animal - the reason for this is not only out of respect for another living being, but also if the animal is distressed before or during slaughter the meat will be tough. abattoir needs investigating
Slowly simmered in broth, it becomes the most wholesome beef broth with delicious chunks of brisket. Add some root vegetables and enjoy a Pot au feu.
tough as old boot leather
I bought this on a flash sale and invited my elderly parents for Sunday lunch It was slow cooked for near 5 hours And should have just melted in your mouth. Iv cooked brisket like this for years and my recipe has never failed until this It was just dry and solid and so tough even my dogs had to chew the life out of it Fortunately a large pukka pie had to come to my rescue or Sunday lunch could have been a dilemma Disappointed with Ocado too as I reported this and never had any reply !! Im starting to think they already knew they had an issue with this beef !! Come on Ocado get a new butcher this was well below standard
Tough as an old boot
Used this for a recipe in the slow-cooker which I have done before for many years and it has never failed. Should have been melting tender but turned out horribly dry, tough and totally flavourless. Hope Ocado read and act on these reviews. I bought on a flash sale, but that still doesn't make this a cheap piece of meat. Total waste of money and effort.
Best Brisket Available.
This is without a doubt the juiciest and most succulent piece of Brisket I have ever had. And I've had a few. I wrapped it in foil and roasted it in the oven on gas mark 3 for 3hrs, then after draining the stock gave it 15 minutes uncovered to finish. The stock makes marvellous gravy. Packaging is attractive and vacuum sealed
