OUR LOVE FOR FOOD INSPIRES US TO GO FURTHER
We've been farming organically for over 35 years, meaning our animals enjoy their natural grass and forage-based diet, growing into strong and heallthy animals, free from unnecessery chemicals, antibiotics and GM feed.
We choose British breeds who thrive in their native landscape and encourage healthy biodiversity on our farm. We avoid waste of any kind, so manure and kitchen waste compost are returned to the soil as rich natural fertilisers. We have built our own abattoir to ensure the highest animal welfare and reduced food miles, which results in better tasting meat, and we spread our message far beyond the boundaries of our own fields.
Each step of our journey is made with a consience, and a love for food.

Tasty when stewed - lean
more fat than meat
Felt like this was the scraps from trimming the roasts. Full of silverskin and fat. Less than half was edible in a stew. Complete waste of money.
Good for a slow cooked casserole
I was clearly quite lucky - looking at the other reviews - in that my venison didn't particularly need trimmimg of fat. There was a little 'silverskin' but as I intended to slow cook it anyway this wasn't an issue. I browned with some bacon lardons then chucked in the slow cooker with sauteed onions, celery, garlic & chopped carrot as well as mushrooms, herbs, red wine & stock. It was lovely served with a parsnip & potato mash & green beans.
Bought this to make a venison and mushroom stroganoff, although there was 500g of meat I could only use 300g of it, as it was so sinewy and fatty. It took me half an hour to actually cut the lean meat off. Might be better in a stew as the fat could melt away, but not sure how much meat would be left! Really disappointed as Daylesford are a very good company.
Good quality venison
This pack was perfect for 2 for a wintery casserole, cooked with vegetables and stock in the oven for about 1.5 hrs. Only one or two pieces needed a bit of a trim. Tasty and lean.
Bought 3 packs. One ok, other two very poor quality. Lots of sinew and strange smell & greyish colour. Hoping to get my refund on this!
