Come on Ocado buyers,
these clams are great, the only problem is the price I have to pay for them. The Ocado purchasing team need to get me and others a better price and you never know, Ocado might even sell more!
Shelled of unshelled??
Bought this product as it is listed as “shelled clams” when they arrived, the label on the jar said “de-shelled clams” Not what I wanted.
best around
Perfect store cupboard staple at an affordable price. We all know fresh clams make a better spaghetti vongole but at a huge price differential. These paired with a good sauce make a lovely midweek supper.
Store cupboard special
Ok the visuals are not appealing. Little jar of grey. But I read the reviews and followed suggestions, rinsed them through in plenty of cold water then added them to chopped shallots & chilli, garlic, prawns, large slug of wine and it made a splendid pasta sauce in the time it took to cook the linguine Will definitely get them again, its a quick but awesomely flavourful midweek supper. Just that colour though
Better than expected
These were surprisingly good. Decanted the brine and rinsed clams in water. Makes great addition to soups.
Delicius Shelled Clams in Brine
Couldn't get Cockles so opted for these. Nothing Like! Really tiny clams (so tiny I don't know how they harvested them! That was not the problem. They were in a mud coloured liquid, the bottle says Brine but I've never seen it that colour before. And they tasted muddy and horrible. I poured the rest in a fine mesh sieve and put them under the tap until the water ran clear. I washed out the bottle, put the clams back in and covered them with white wine vinegar. Now, they were OK. Too much effort for very little pleasure. I wont be buying any more.
