Salty specks!
The clams were tiny specks, not visible to sight or palate! Plus the sauce far too salty
it tastes terrible
Just like a horrible fake sauce nasty
Add to pasta with fresh clams
I started adding these to the linguine clam dish Ive been making for years and they have really elevated the meal to something else. Never make it without this now.
anything but delicious
Horrible. If you have never had spaghetti alle vongole (clams) in your life, you may be excused to think that this is how it should taste- Very very fishy, no subtlety of flavours.. hard clams that smell and taste as if they were off! I tried improving the taste with copious amounts of fresh parsley, garlic and extra virgin olive oil, to no avail- I wasted some very good ingredients and I chucked everything in the bin. I am italian of course... but I dont consider myself a fussy italian, as some definitely are. Still, both my daughter and myself couldnt bring ourselves to eat this. Back to the real thing: in a deep fry pan heat half glass of extra virgin olive oil, chuck in some crushed and chopped garlic, fresh tomatoes (chopped) clams in their shells. Toss for a few minutes, a splash of white wine for the hell of it....add cooked spaghetti and copious amounts of parsley and Ecco fatto (the French say voilà) Spaghetti alle Vongole!
Ok but obviously cant compare with fresh clams.
I would recommend this sauce, but only as a quick go to as it obviously doesnt taste like fresh clams. Perfectly fine to use when your pressed for time.
Unsure
The jurys out on this one. Wasnt horrible, sort of like a fishy Bolognese. Certainly wont rush to buy more.
