Quality flour

This flour tastes awesome and now a staple for making chapatis. Have switched from regular wheat to this variety as suggested by nutritionist

Makes gorgeous bread

I make 100% spelt flour regularly with their recipe. It's so easy and makes the most delicious bread/toast. I cut the loaves, freeze it and use it as and when. I'm allergic to wheat flour and the spelt flour works just fine in my diet. I'm a fan.

Non-UK flour

I bought this spelt because I know Doves Farm to grow their flour so assumed this would be UK-grown and therefore have a lower environmental footprint. I know I should have read the small print but I didn't. This flour is in fact a blend from various undisclosed countries. As to its general quality, it's decent enough and I've used it to bake bread with no trouble at all. I didn't make a 100% spelt loaf though, I always mix up to 50% white flour into my wholemeal dough because 100% wholemeal doughs can be tricky to work with and the slightest mistake will give you a dry, tough loaf. However this flour is too finely milled for my liking, I prefer wholemeal that looks like wholemeal, rather than fine grey dust. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with it really, a perfectly adequate flour.

I bake all the time and add 15% of whole weight of very strong flour. If whole weight is 400g then very strong flour is 380g and 20g of spelt flour. You cant bake only this flour because no gluten. You can feel good aroma with this flour and very light finish. Love it!

No good for breadmaking.

I have tried most brands of Spelt Flour in bread making and Dove's Farm falls horribly short of making an acceptable loaf. This was the first spelt I ever tried and it gave me a bad impression of spelt flour, I was delighted to discover that not all spelt flour is equal.

Look up the Doves Farm Spelt Bread recipe online - the one on the packet is different. Makes a fantastic loaf.
