When using any of our soaps to wash your hair, we recommend you follow up with a lightly acidic conditioning rinse, such as diluted apple cider vinegar.

Ingredients Good for Body and Earth Organic

Organic Fair Trade Sugar leaves skin hydrated and smooth; gives our soaps their caramel aroma and colour and keeps them from clogging. Fairly traded to support farmers, producers and their communities!

Organic Shikakai imparts mild smoothness to the soap's lather, gently cleanses skin and conditions hair. Shikakai comes from the seed pods of the small South Asian tree Acacia Concinna and has been used in India for hair and body care for over 1,000 years.

Organic White Grape Juice has complex sugars that nourish the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Together with organic sugar, it acts as a humectant and helps skin cells retain moisture.

Organic Fair Trade Olive Oil gives our soaps their velvety smoothness. To honor the peace the olive tree symbolizes, we source our oil from both Palestinian and Israeli growers: Canaan Fair Trade, founded by Palestinians who support peaceful co-existence and see profitable olive farming as a way of improving Palestinians' economic situation; the Jewish-Isaraeli Strauss family; and Fair Trade Sindyanna, run by Jewish and Arab women in Israel.

Organic Fair Trade Coconut Oil creates a rich cleansing lather. Our coconut oil comes from our Serendipol project in Sri Lanka, where organic compost keeps the soil fertile, every family farmer and worker is paid a fair price, and the Fair Trade premium funds community needs such as medical equipment for local hospitals.

Organic Hem Oil is in all our soaps! Hemp oil mirrors our skin's natural oils-its perfect balance of essential fatty acids makes our soaps smoother, less drying. One of the earth's most versatile and sustainable crops-hemp thrives in many climates, grows quickly, attracts pollinators and has the potential to sequester cardon. Dr. Bronner's has worked tirelessly to make hemp cultivation legal in the US.

Organic Fair Trade Palm Kernel Oil comes from sustainable small farms in Ecuador. No rainforest habitat or wildlife is harmed, and no new deforestation occurs due to oil palm farming-rather care is taken to conserve and restore the local ecosystem.

The sugar in this soap acts as a natural humectant, pulling moisture back into the skin-keeps your skin hydrated, super-soft and smooth-gives the soap a wonderful caramel aroma and color! Blended with organic shikakai powder, organic grape juice and our coconut-olive-hemp-jojoba castile soap base to nourish-cleanse-moisturize-soothe face-underarms-legs!

In the spirit of Emanuel Bronner's vision of Constructive Capitalism, Dr. Bronner's sources all main ingredients from certified fair trade and organic sources. These are coconut, olive, palm and palm kernel oils, together accounting for over 90% of our agricultural raw materials. Our organic and fair trade practices ensure that everyone along our supply chains-farmers, farm workers and workers in processing-receives fair compensation. Also, all farming and processing is done in a way that minimizes harm to the environment and sustains fertility and productivity of the land by organic means.

Dr. Bronner's was founded in 1948 by Emanuel Bronner, a third-generation master soapmaker from a German-Jewish soapmaking family. He used the labels on his superb ecological soaps to spread his message that we must realize our transcendent unity across religious and ethnic divides or perish: "We Are All-One or None!" Dr. Bronner passed away in 1997. The business continues to be run by his family.
