Dr. Bronner's was founded in 1948 by Emanuel Bronner, a third-generation master soapmaker from a German-Jewish soapmaking family. He used the labels on his superb ecological soaps to spread his message that we must realize our transcendent unity across religious and ethnic divides or perish: "We Are All-One or None!" Dr. Bronner passed away in 1997. The business continues to be run by his family.

In the spirit of Emanuel Bronner's vision of Constructive Capitalism, Dr. Bronner's sources all main ingredients from certified fair trade and organic sources. These are coconut, olive, palm and kernel oils, together accounting for over 90% of our agricultural raw materials. Our organic and fair trade practices ensure that everyone along our supply chains - farmers, farm workers and workers in processing - receives fair compensation. Also, all farming and processing is done in a way that minimizes harm to the environmental and sustains fertility and productivity of the land by organic means.
