Recipes
You will need:
75g Softened butter (or margarine)
1-2 tbsp water and 30ml (6tsp)
Water for the icing
Flour for rolling out the dough
Let's Get Baking
1 Preheat the oven to 180°C /160°C fan/ gas mark 4 approximately 10 minutes before your biscuits are ready to go in the oven. Line the baking tray with baking paper.
Make your biscuit dough
2 Put the biscuit mix, soft butter and 1 tbsp water in a mixing bowl.
3 Mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon until you have a smooth dough, add another tsp water if the dough is too dry.
4 Wrap the dough in cling film and put in the fridge and let it chill for 20 minutes. Chilling the dough makes it easier to handle.
5 Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's about 1/2 cm thick.
6 Time to make your hearts! Place the stencil (unprinted side down) on the dough and use a sharp knife to cut out heart shapes and place them on the lined baking tray.
7 Re-roll the dough until you have used it up, you should have approximately 12 sweetheart biscuits.
8 Bake the biscuits in the middle of the oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
9 Leave the biscuits to cool completely on a cooling rack. As tempting as it is, wait until your biscuits are cool before icing!
Time to decorate
10 To make your icings, start by putting the pink icing mix and blue icing mix in separate bowls.
11 Add 15ml (3tsp) water to each icing mix, then stir until you have a smooth icing.
12 Now create your purple icing. Add one third of the pink icing and one third of the blue icing and mix... ta-da you now have purple icing!
13 Spread the icing over the cooled biscuits.
14 For best results leave the icing to set before personalising with the decorating icing tube.
15 Store your decorated Sweetheart Biscuits in a cool, dry place, best eaten within 48 hours.
Serve & enjoy!
