Our cream contains an anti-itch ingredient, lauromacrogols, which acts as a topical anesthetic and soothes the itch caused by eczema, dermatitis, pruritus and other dry skin conditions. It also contains urea, a moisturiser found naturally within the skin, which helps the skin retain moisture and has a soothing effect.

How to use E45 Itch Relief cream: Twist pump to OPEN position. Depress pump to dispense cream. Twist back to lock. Apply to the affected skin 2 times daily. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Each use of the pump dispenses approx 4g of cream.

Safety Warning:
BEFORE YOU USE E45 ITCH RELIEF CREAM: Use this medicine only on your skin. For adults, the elderly, children and infants over the age of 1 month. Avoid contact with the mucous membranes and eyes. Irritation (e.g. erythema, burning) may occur if applied to broken or inflamed skin. Discontinue use if irritation or rash occurs. Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not use on the breasts immediately prior to breastfeeding. Do not smoke or go near naked flames - risk of severe burns. Fabric (clothing, bedding dressings etc) that has been in contact with this product burns more easily and is a serious fire hazard. Washing clothing and bedding may reduce product build-up but not totally remove it.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: E45 Itch Relief Cream is usually well tolerated, however side effects may occur which can include a burning sensation, redness, itching, pus or dermatitis allergic. May cause irritation if applied to broken or inflamed skin. Urea may increase penetration through the skin barrier of other topically applied medicines when used at the same time. This medicine contains Benzyl alcohol and Cetyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions and irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis). If you suspect an allergic 'reaction or if anything unusual happens, stop using the product. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed above. The voice of experience
In 1952 we released our first product – E45 cream. It was created by a Boots chemist in response to a customer request for a product that would soothe and protect the skin.

In 1963 physicians noticed E45 cream was a beneficial treatment for dry skin conditions. At this time, we only promoted our products to hospital sales departments. It wasn’t until 1980 that E45 cream was introduced to the pharmacy and retail establishments, where it was recognised for its efficacy in the treatment of dry skin.

In the 1990s we extended our product range to include a complete skincare emollient therapy. We’ve continued to create products with patients and their skin in mind. We strive to continue to serve the needs of both patients and healthcare professionals and produce better treatment options for patients’ skincare routines.
