Preparation and Usage

Preparation
1. Sort through and discard any hardened kernels, etc.
2. Wash in 3-4 changes of clean water.
3. Soak in enough water to cover for at least 10 mins.
4. Replace water with fresh water, bring to the boil and boil for at least 10 minutes.
5. Simmer for 30mins or until tender ensuring that the saucepan does not run dry.

Delicious Vegetarian Recipe Suggestion
Prepare 200g of East End Red Split Lentils as above upto and including step 4.
Add 1 teaspoon of both East End Turmeric Powder and East End Coriander Powder, add 1/2 a teaspoon of East End Chilli powder [or 1 dessert spoon full of East End Vegetable Curry Masala], salt to taste. Add 1 small finely chopped tomato, and 2 tablespoons of East End Vegetable Oil. Simmer on a medium or low heat for 5-10 minutes until a rich and creamy texture is achieved. Garnish with finely chopped fresh coriander leaves. Serve on a bed of rice or with chapatti. Serves 4 as a main meal.
