Preparation and Usage
Preparation
Soak the contents for 30 minutes if possible. Wash in 2 changes of clean water. Boil lentils using enough water for 30 minutes. Add salt to taste. Boil these lentils to a consistency of soup.
For 300g of dall fry one finely chopped onion in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add 1 level teaspoon of East End coriander, turmeric, chilli, cumin, ginger and garlic powders or alternatively use East End Rogan Josh or Balti spice blend. Add 200g chopped tomatoes. This preparation is called Tarka in Indian cooking. Add this to boiled dall. Garnish with fresh green coriander leaves and enjoy with East End roti or East End boiled rice.
