The full title should be French Lentilles Cuisinées, as cuisinées simply means cooked, but we like simple! This provincial classic is a popular choice in France and is typically served as a vegetable through the winter. We have given the recipe an authentic twist by adding sweet chestnuts. High in starch but low in fat, the chestnut makes a good substitute for potatoes and from its early origins in Mediterranean countries, it is used in stews, soups, and as flour to make delicious bread and pasta.
Also referred to as continental lentils; they have a firm texture when cooked and a delicious earthy flavour. Colours range from dark green and speckled to pale brown or green - all with yellow seeds inside their coats. One of the most ancient of all pulses, they were first cultivated in the Middle East. Lentils are more easily digested than other beans and are very high in protein.

I really enjoyed this, bought in a flash sale. I would not pay full price for it
perfect work lunch
I get regularly to bring to work for lunch. Healthy and wholesome. Tastesgreat. Love easy beanz.
I love this! Yes, simple, but tasty and great combo of ingredients. Love the chestnuts. Definitely need to add something to make a meal of it
I was disappointed with this product. It was watery and rather tasteless
Its not bad but its not great either. I must have had one of the more watery pots which I wouldnt have minded if it was more like a sauce. Flavour was mediocre , and after having to bulk it up with other veg I then remembered the price! I shouldnt have to bulk it up for a start as it is meant to be a complete meal. A lower price or larger pot maybe?
could be improved
Having tried two of these easy bean pots now, I realise you really have to add your own additions to make them exciting / turn them into a proper meal. This one was largely better than the first I tried. To this I added tomatoes, olives and chorizo and it was nice. The portion is small for the price.
