Ask The Butcher:
The Aberdeen Angus is an iconic breed, native to the United Kingdom. The meat of the Aberdeen Angus is characterised by a natural marbling of fat, which produces the super texture and tenderness this breed is famous for. We've matured this roasting joint for 21 days, to make the joint even more tender. We cut from the topside and thick flank for our roasting joint, it's lean, tender and a great all-rounder for roasting.

I have bought this many times and never had an inferior joint. I always cook my beef low and slow, rest for 20 mins and perfect.
Good taste and tender
Generous sized piece of beef (on offer so went for it) which I divided into two and froze half straightaway. I cut the remaining half into chunky slices and made a tasty casserole dish throwing all sorts of veg in which went down very well with everyone. Meat was so tender it just fell away. Going to have a roast beef dinner with other half when the weather cools down!
Bought on flash 50% offer luckily as if I had paid full price I would be super annoyed. Tough meat. Cooked a little under as we like it rare and let it rest but still rather chewy. Wont buy again.
Really dry and tough, flavourless
I cooked this exactly as per the instructions, seared on gas hob before going into oven. Cooked and rested it was beautiful, and the fat made for extremely tasty roasted potatoes
First time we tried this it was fine. Very tasty as a pot-roast and good texture. Second time it was like a completely different joint - much firmer before cooking and rather dry & bland afterwards. Looks like poor quality control, either in the butchering or in the hanging.
