Ask The Butcher:
“Cut from the forerib, the ribeye has a rich marbling of fat throughout and is often considered one of the most flavoursome steaks. Before cooking, take your steak out of the fridge for at least an hour to allow the muscle to relax and help it cook more evenly. Blotting the moisture on the surface and seasoning with salt to taste will help it brown in the pan – the earlier this is done, the tastier your steak will be as the salt is absorbed into the meat. Brush your steak lightly with rapeseed oil – it has a higher frying temperature, so it’s ideal for getting the best out of your steak without burning it. How you like your steak is a personal choice, but I recommend between rare and medium to avoid the steak drying out. Rest your steak again once cooked, for 5 to 10 minutes, for a more tender finish”

very poor steak
falls apart not very good at all very very poor for the price will not buy again. not even rib eye
More like a minute steak
Ive bought Eden produce before and been happy, however these were far too thin. It was hard not to overcook them as a few minutes each side meant it was well done, plus it let out a lot of water so it was almost impossible to get a seat on it. Good flavour but better for a sandwich.
Ok, but getting thinner
Started out good, but getting thin
flavour ok... colour not great
Extremely grey and pale but flavour was fine
Full of water
These steaks released so much water they ended up being broiled instead of fried. Not the high standard I've come to expect from Eden. We prefer our steaks rare to medium and due to this issue and the fact they were rather thin they ended up being well done. The marbling was, however, good. The flavour was average. Sorry, but I can't recommend these.
... and great value for money when on the Mix n'match offer. They're a bit fatty as ribeye should be and they are not big steaks but they are juicy and tender.
