Yes, its small and a bit too salty for our taste. We are not used to salty food, so salty is quite objective in this case. Anyway, lessons learned and Ill buy unsmoked gammon next time.
Smallest ham ever
No way would this serve 6..am really disappointed.. Was even to thin to slice properly
I have ordered this ham twice, and both times we found the flavour just fine, but the meat too tough. It never occurred to me there could be a difference in hams. We bought a Bearsfield ham and it was delicious. This product, both times, not so good. Mind you I might have overcooked it or undercooked... that's why I bought it twice.
A shame there are so many 1 star ratings based solely on Ocado's general lack of weight specification option, as that aside, these gammons are superb quality and decent value. We bought a few in the flash sale and cut into both gammon steaks and small joints and froze. Perfect layer of fat and skin on and not a hair in sight, these are very well prepared. They cook up just as beautifully after freezing. Not overly salty as some smoked gammons can often be. The boiling water is a perfect stock base for soups. Great product if you can overlook Ocado's weight lottery.
Good meat to fat ratio, size as expected. Had at Christmas time and was excellent, meat was very tender. Boiled with peppercorns, carrot and an onion to absorb some of the salt.
We got this in a flash sale, normally buy Chrismas ham from a farm shop, but decided to give it a go. Boiled it, no problems peeling off the skin, scored the fat just fine, roasted up nicely, carved very neatly when cooled. Tasted great, and got some slices left over in the freezer for lunches. Highly recommended.
