La Casa del Rey in Mendoza, Argentina, achieved Fairtrade certification in 2011 following a worker's initiative. Funds raised from the Fairtrade premium have helped towards educational projects and have allowed the Monteflores Association to implement an integrated health and nutrition programme. A doctor has been provided to work alongside the community and cover the health needs of over 60 workers and their families, the majority who live in remote areas with little access to medical resources.

Handpicked grapes are fermented with selected yeasts at controlled temperatures to retain an excellent concentration of freshness and fruit aromas. The wine is then left to mature for 6 months in American oak barrels before bottling.
