Elyssia, meaning state of perfect harmony, offers this Gran Cuvee which brings the idea of symmetry alive with its combination of traditional Macabeo and Parellada cava grapes with international favourites Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Tasting Notes
Aromas of acacia flowers and lightly honeyed notes, over ripe pineapple and peach. The palate is soft and enticing, opening into those same ripe fruit flavours, combining a clean, crisp acidity, and developing into a long, balanced finish.
Based in Catalonia, northeast Spain, and founded in the 19th century, Freixenet remains a family business. With winery estates worldwide, Freixenet has grown to become one of the world's leading producers of both still and sparkling wine.
Penedès in Catalonia is the largest and most important sparkling wine region. It is split into 3 zones ranging in altitude from 250m to 800m above sea level, each with a distinct climate.
Regional Information
The Chardonnay and traditional varieties Macabeo and Parellada are cultivated in the Freixenet family vineyard "La Freixeneda" in Sant Quinti de Mediona, on chalky soil. The Pinot Nor grapes are grown at the Mas Bernich vineyard at Masquefa in the High Penedès, on sandy-clay soil.

Vinification Details
Chardonnay: Pneumatic pressing extracts 55%-65% of the juice, which is transferred to stainless steel tanks, where fermentation begins. Macabeo and Parellada: Pressing is carried out without any application of pressure. The juice is transferred to stainless steel tanks and fermented. Each variety is fermented separately. Pinot Noir: The free-run juice is mixed in with the pressed juice, and the must is transferred to stainless steel tanks. Fermentation of all varieties takes place at 16-18°C.

Pleasantly surprised with coupon offer. Might not spend more than the offered £10 with coupon when not on offer, but much better alternative to regular option

Light, fizzy, medium dry, subtle flavourings not acidy - much prefer to Prosecco
