Regional information
Awatere Valley is a slightly cooler, drier, and windier sub-region of Marlborough with higher elevations. The region is well-known for producing Sauvignon Blancs with tropical aromatics, such as grilled pineapple and dry herbs. The two blocks selected for this wine combine to produce a wonderfully aromatic, textural, and mineral wine that is classically Awatere in character.

Vinification details
Carefully selected parcels are sourced from the rich, heavy soils of vineyards in Marlborough's renowned Awatere Valley, a premium sub-region known for producing exceptional wines. To create a Sauvignon Blanc with intense flavour and texture, Giesen's winemakers gently press the grapes and ferment them with selected yeasts at cool temperatures to capture the aromatics and flavour. The wine is then aged on lees for three to four months to develop a beautiful mouthfeel.
