Product Information

Glenelly Estate owes its success to the rich history of the estate, dating back to 1682 when Simon van der Stel ceded the land to a French Huguenot, Francois Villion. Purchased in 2003 by May de Lencquesaing, then 78 years old, her family's legacy of centuries in the wine industry as the owners of the famous Chateau Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande in Pauillac, Bordeaux , she and her team have made Glenelly a wine estate of considerable note and enviable reputation.

Vinification details

The grapes were lightly crushed and gently pressed before being left to settle overnight. The juice was racked into stainless steel tanks, where fermentation began naturally with indigenous yeasts. The wine was left on the lees and occasionally stirred to enhance texture and mouthfeel, but the wine was not allowed to go through malolactic fermentation to keep freshness.
